In our continuing effort to reach out to amputees and organizations that work with amputees, the Krewe sponsored six (6) kids at the Adventure Amputee Camp which is located in Bryson City, NC. This Camp had 37 campers for five days of adventure to include white water rafting, high ropes, tennis, horseback riding, and water skiing. The kids come from a variety of backgrounds; from very privileged to severely underserved; from having minimal physical challenges to having physical challenges those of us with full bodies cannot even begin to imagine. In addition to contributing $3,000 for the cost of the 6 kids, Sharon, Darlene and Jessica (Darlene’s daughter) drove to the Camp for a day of checking out the camp, visiting the kids, and putting on a Pirate Party. They had games, with prizes, a goodie bag for each camper and Polaroid pictures of each camper for them to take home. It was a wonderful time and we look forward to doing it again next year.
